PLYWOOD CORE INFORMATIONS

 

Plywood, also known as Hardwood Plywood, is made from hardwoods such as acacia, eucalyptus… This type of plywood has a very high hardness and surface stability. This type of board often bears heavy weight, so it is used in construction, packaging formwork, pallets.In Vietnam, core veneer is usually made from  Eucalyptus, Acacia, Styrax, …

Hardwood plywood cores are the layers between the hardwood or decorative softwood face and back veneers. The core of the panel will influence the properties of the plywood panels such as water resistance, stability, strength, flatness, screw holding ability, weight, and cost.

Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus is a very strong wood for its density, however the wood is quite brittle and is low in shock resistance. Eucalyptus is prone to cellular collapse so distortion in drying is quite common as well as surface checking. The wood has a moderate durability rating. The wood is quite dense but cuts well.

Acacia

Acacia is the hardest of all hardwoods, characterized by high density and resilience. Its wood has a multidirectional structure (the fibers are located towards each other) and an increased resistance to friction, which makes it difficult to process when dry. The core of the trunk is colored in a noble reddish-brown color with dark veins, the sapwood is yellowish or light brown.

Mix hardwood

Mixed hardwoods are strong and stable timbers, and easy to work. They plane, sand, finish it and glues well. This also makes Mixed hardwoods ideal for internal joinery applications, furniture and toys. This timber is suitable for wet areas with appropriate oil-based undercoating protection.

 

Styrax

Styrax wood had good dimensional stability, it showed by the tangential and radial ratio value reached of one.  According to the mechanical properties, styrax wood was a suitable use for raw materials of light construction, furniture and handicraft.
